about
objects made to last
furnishings and things began with a simple dissatisfaction — with objects that looked considered but weren't, with things that arrived in boxes and felt like nothing.
we wanted a different kind of shop. one that moved slowly, chose carefully, and stood behind everything it sold.
01
material honesty
We work only with materials that improve with age — marble, brass, linen, oak, plaster, stoneware. Nothing that pretends to be something it isn't.
02
considered selection
We carry fewer things than most shops. Every object is chosen because it earns its place — in the room and in the world.
03
slow commerce
We don't chase trends. We don't run sales. We add new objects when we find something worth adding, and we remove things when we find something better.
the shop was founded in 2019 by two people who had spent years working in architecture and interiors, and who kept finding the same problem: the objects that made a room feel right were hard to find, scattered across trade suppliers and small makers with no web presence.
furnishings and things is an attempt to fix that. a single place, edited carefully, where the things that make a home feel like itself are findable.
we work with a small number of makers — most of them in europe, a few in the us — who share our belief that an object should be made once and last a long time.
we are based in new york. we ship worldwide.
